Portland Double Groom Wedding – Jordan + Donovan
Jordan & Donovan’s beautiful summer Portland double groom wedding was my first, and in fact my first LGBTQ+ wedding all together. The day was incredibly warm, hovering at around 98º all day. Or as Donovan would said, “don’t tell me it’s hot, just say it’s feels wonderful” Finding the venue was a little tricky, but once I found my way down the winding single vehicle path through the outer grounds I was pleasantly surprised to find this gorgeous venue. The immaculate grounds were sprawling and wonderfully kept. The details largely provided by Something Borrowed PDX fit perfectly with the venue.
I don’t recall ever being so emotionally moved by a wedding as I was at Jordan & Donovan’s ceremony. Though it was quick, the pure joy and love exploded throughout the attendence. Craning my head around between shots of the couple I found that, like myself, everyone was awash with emotion. Like the grooms said, “my eyes keep ‘sweating'” a thinly veiled attempt to hide the tears of joy. Something about witnessing love prevailing and two people testifying that love with their closest family and friends surrounding them was extremely moving.
I would like to thank the grooms for their wonderful hospitality as well and their amazing friends who insisted that I join them for the after party in downtown Portland. Everyone made me feel as if I was part of the group of friends for years. Funny side note, one of the close friends of Jordan inquired to where I was from originally before moving to Seattle. I told him, fully expecting him like most others not to never have heard of Ely, Nevada. On the contrary however, he not only knew of it, he works nearby and is a relief pilot for the wildland fire type 3 helicopter crew that I worked with before moving. The world is surprisingly small sometimes.
