Hoyt Arboretum Wedding

Kyle + Blythe

Portland, OR

In August I traveled down to Portland to capture Kyle & Blythe’s Hoyt Arboretum wedding. I had a blast documenting their day from the haircuts to the dinner in downtown at the Portland City Grill. It was also a pleasure to finally meet a fellow photographer, Mitch Kitter who was the best man.

We started off with the groom and groomsmen getting haircuts and shaves at the amazing Throne Barbershop in downtown Portland. Next up was getting ready with the Blythe and her bridal party where everyone teamed up to button up her wedding dress. Kyle and Blythe had a nice little first look before the quick walk up the trail to the wedding ceremony which was in the Hoyt Arboretum. Essentially just a forest on the edge of the city, it’s quite an amazing place. The couple’s heartfelt vows had their guests in tears as well as each other. I always love the pure emotion of a wedding ceremony. We headed to the Rose Garden for couples photos, dodging around avoiding visitors as much as possible. After we finished up there we headed to the waterfront for a few additional images before the reception at Portland City Grill.

I shot a few rolls of Portra 400 on my Canon 1V and was super pumped on how the images came out. Thanks to the Find Lab for always doing an amazing job on the film.
